PRIVATIZATION

Ownership relations in Ukraine are mainly reformed by way of privatization of state-owned enterprises' assets.

In 1997, 704 objects were privatized in the city of Kyiv, including:

• 628 objects of small-scale privatization;
• 14 objects of uncompleted construction;
• 20 other objects.

A peculiarity of small-scale privatization in 1997 was a predominance of constructions and non-dwelling premises among the objects privatized.

In terms of the sum of monetary proceeds from privatization of state-owned enterprises, the city of Kyiv continuously takes the first place among the regions of Ukraine. In 1997, the amount of proceeds from privatization in the city of Kyiv totaled 58.3 mln UAH. The share of small-scale privatization for cash was 96% of their cost and only 4% of privatization was implemented in exchange for ownership certificates.

Proceeds from the sales of objects uncompleted construction amounted to 3.4 mln UAH. At present, the development of the 1998 program privatizationis is close to the accomplishment. According to preliminary data, 530 objects are expected to be privatized in 1998.

A share of small-scale privatization is expected to be 52.5% of the total number of privatized objects.
